Reserved for Loitering, 2017

This book documents Reserved for Loitering signs that I have illegally dropped wherever I find “No Loitering” signs. This book documents the project in eight cities across the US. Reserved for Loitering is part of a larger project called How to Loiter which seeks to reimagine and create public sites for loitering through a tongue-in-cheek Public Service Announcement-style campaign, discussion and collaborative workshops that examine the loitering laws in various cities around the United States. This project explores the amount of underused public and private space in the city and challenges accepted norms around loitering.

The Professional Amateur is full of contradictions. A Professional Amateur is someone who is simultaneously engaged in numerous interests and multiple professions. A Professional Amateur could be 10 or 80 years old. A Professional Amateur might have years of experience, or none at all. Modern Greetings: New Ways of Saying Hello, 2013

This handbook presents a collection of modern ways of greeting one another. Addressing today’s technology, daily rituals, and the potential awkwardness of our social encounters, these greetings encourage physical interaction beyond just shaking hands. Whether familiar or bizarre, each greeting asks us to reconsider the simple act of saying hello.

5 Star Ratings: Mechanical Turk Reviews, 2012

5 Star Ratings is a collection of 25, 500-word art reviews of my artist website, each produced by users of Amazon’s Mechanical Turk, which enables micro forms of paid labor called HITS (Human Intelligence Tasks). Workers on Mechanical Turk were paid $5 dollars to review my website and write about the work. With this project I’m interested in starting discussions and asking questions about how technology and the Internet have changed the way artists construct their identities. What does it mean when we can all create our own press? What value does crowdsourced press have both to the general public and to artists? What is the current state of art journalism?
